Carrier Route Advantage
Target Specific Areas Within a Zip code's Different Demographics.
Postal carrier routes reasonbly represent America's neighborhoods. Carrier routes are simply a postman's "walk" sequence that averages 350 households each. Carrier routes can be sorted by demographic data and make an excellent targeting tool. Routes within a zip code or radius can be ranked by demogrphic characteristics such as income and presnece of children. After ranking, you can then select the best and eliminate the rest!
For Carrier Route Advantage you may select low cost saturation standard postage.
These are also called occupant lists with names where available (about 70% of addresses).
Carrier Route Advantage with Saturation Standard Postage are used when mailing Own Your Market, Radius & Drive Time and Brand Index programs.
Forty percent of effectiveness of your direct mail advertising is the quality of the list. however, the lowest postal rate, saturation standard, requires delivery to at least 90% of all households per carrier route regardless of who lives there. Mailing to zip codes or a radius can still reach a high quality target and eliminate waste by selecting targeted postal carrier routes in the trade area.
Retailers, financial institutions, home repair, health care providers, restaurants and service businesses effectively use saturation mail to target consumers. Carrier Route Neighborhoods can be viewed by over 2,000 demographic and lifestyle variables by BRANDDirectMail.com. Attributes include median home value, age, income, presence of children and category spending potential. To qualify for saturation postal rates, mail must be sent to at least 90% of households in a carrier route. Names are available for about 70% of the addresses with the word "Resident" used for the others.
You may select household type, SFDU (Single Family Dwelling Units) and / or MFDU (Multi Family Dwelling Units) or eliminate PO Boxes and busiesses if you like. This will cause a slight increase in postage rate from Saturation Standard ($.182 each) to High Density Standard ($.193 each).
Marketers configure the 126 million households in the United States by state, county, DMA (Designated Market Area), CBSA (Core Business Statistical Area), zip code, census tracts, census blocks and postal carrier routes. There are 300 DMA's, 43,000 zip codes and 640,000 postal carrier routes which makes the carrier route the smallest and most precise saturation target. The US population chages constantly (12% of American move annually) but the characteristics of neighborhoods change slowly over time making the Carrier Route Advantage a great choice.
